Research Ethics Seminar: Social Media Issues


Gordon DuVal, from the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa and Chair of the Research Ethics Board at the National Research Council Canada, will be offering a seminar to researchers and senior students on March 12th at St. Thomas University.

Gordon will discuss ethical issues when gathering research data through social media (confidentiality, consent, etc.) and the use of online survey tools. He will also lead a conversation about the obligation placed on researchers to share previously undisclosed information from research participants with law enforcement.
