The CONNECT project

In 2017, more than 15,285 adults, 18 years of age and older, live with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in the Maritimes. The transition from adolescence to adulthood has far-reaching consequences for the autistic community. Medical, psychological, social and community needs are numerous and varied. Disconnection with care and support during this transitional period is frequently reported for this growing population. As a result, these ASD adults and their caregivers are neglected – often leading to a decline in the progress made during the first years of life to improve their daily lives.

The CONNECT project (CONtiNuity of care and support for the autism spECTrum disorder) aims to break down barriers and understand the needs and challenges faced by adults living with autism spectrum disorder.
