FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INVESTS IN RESEARCH FORUM FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Forum Will Connect New Ideas and Research for a Better Economy
February 20, 2014 – Fredericton, N.B. – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
New Brunswick policy analysts and researchers will explore new ideas in economic development at the Policy Research Forum, Research to Impact: A Policy Weekend. The Forum is taking place at the Wu Conference Centre, University of New Brunswick, from February 21-23, 2014.
Organized by the New Brunswick Social Policy Research Network (NB-SPRN), this event provides an opportunity for economic development partners from across the region to discuss the current economic climate, identify best practices and share data to ensure optimal economic development decision-making. Highlights of the Forum will include presentations, interactive break-out sessions, panel discussions and networking opportunities all designed to connect researchers with policy makers and encourage new approaches in economic development.
The Government of Canada, through ACOA’s Business Development Program, is investing $34,087 towards the forum, while various university partners are providing $6,363.

- The New Brunswick Social Policy Research Network (NBSPRN) is a network of analysts and researchers engaged in activities that contribute to evidence-based public policy development. The network is comprised of over 950 researchers, academics, sectoral experts, practitioners and informed citizens.
- Research to Impact: A Policy Weekend is a follow-up event to the panel discussion “What is Good Economic Development Policy?” held June 12, 2013 at the Wu Conference Centre. Approximately 120 participants attended this discussion that explored various policy research elements and perspectives.
