This message is being sent on behalf of Dr. Deborah van den Hoonaard: We are very pleased to announce that the final, annual Qualitative Workshop will be held on October 2, 3 and 4, 2015 at St. Thomas University.

Hosted by Dr. Deborah van den Hoonaard (the Atlantic Centre for Qualitative Research and Analysis), this year’s Workshop is entitled Qualitative Research Methods that Work: Voices From Experience. In her final year as Canada Research Chair, Dr. van den Hoonaard has invited seven researchers, foremost in their fields, to examine and discuss the methodological diversity in the field of qualitative research, to overcome well-recognized obstacles and provide a venue for mentorship.

As the 2015 keynote speaker, Dr. van den Hoonaard will be presenting a public lecture on Friday, October 2nd at 3:30pm in the Ted Daigle Auditorium, Edmund Casey Hall.  Her presentation, Learning to Be Old: Understanding Ageism  marks the culmination of 20 years of working in Gerontology. It explains that we learn to be old and accept myths associated with aging through the way people treat us. It uses the results of Dr. van den Hoonaard’s qualitative studies and personal experience to illustrate this process.

The Friday lecture is open to the public and free of charge.  Pre-registration is required for the Saturday and Sunday plenary sessions.  Registration for this workshop is limited so please contact knowlton@stu.ca to confirm availability prior to sending registration form.

Please see documents below or visit the following website  www.stu.ca/acqra  for details and registration form. For more information, please contact Dr. Deborah van den Hoonaard dkvdh@stu.ca or Lehanne Knowlton  knowlton@stu.ca
