How governments can accelerate the impact investing market in Canada
Part of the IPACTalks Webinar series
IPAC and Deloitte invite you to join this complimentary webinar to learn about what impact investing is and what government can do to accelerate the development of the impact investing market in Canada.
A worldwide revolution is occurring in how society’s biggest challenges will be addressed. The field of impact investing is changing the conversation about the impact that business, government, and social enterprise can make on a wide span of social issues. These critical issues cover the spectrum from improving educational outcomes in our children, to driving better health outcomes, to reducing the rate of offence and re-offence of at-risk youth, and to the development of programs to fight climate change.
These social needs continue to grow despite constrained government budgets. Impact investing – an investment approach that intentionally seeks to create both financial return and positive social impact that is actively measured – is attracting attention from the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors. There are, however, a number of barriers to developing the impact investing market in Canada, including scalability, transaction costs, impact measurement, and risk management.
This webinar will be moderated by Dr. Robert Taylor, IPAC’s Chief Executive Officer, and will feature Michael Wenban, a Partner with Monitor Deloitte and a leader in the company’s impact investing practice.
