National Affordable Housing Day Event -Wednesday December 9th

You are invited to attend a National Affordable Housing Day Event

On behalf of the City of Fredericton Affordable Housing Committee and its partners, you are cordially invited to attend Affordable Housing Day 2015 on the evening of December 9th at the Wu Conference Centre, UNB Fredericton.

The informal evening begins at 5pm with a reception to socialize and encourage casual conversation on how we can impact housing affordability and access in Fredericton. Live performances by Barry Hemphill & Richie Young. Light foods and refreshments will be served.

The main feature begins at 6:00pm, with the screening of LOWDOWN TRACKS: a powerful documentary that chronicles the lives of Canadian street musicians impacted by homelessness.  This film has been celebrated for its impactful portrayal of relationship between trauma and housing instability.

Please register in advance for this free event HERE.

LOWDOWN TRACKS tells the real life story of a disparate group of street musicians. Homeless, home free, or living on the margins, they are the balladeers of the “lowdown” – telling it like it is. They have talent and passion and a different view of society, as seen from the curb. How did they get there, and how do they survive? Shot and recorded from abandoned tracks, beneath bridges, inside shelters, rooming houses, rooftops and alleyways, LOWDOWN TRACKS is both social commentary and a celebration of the power of music and survival.
