The Byrne @ 50 Symposium
It is our great pleasure to invite you to the Byrne @ 50 symposium to be held at UNB’s Wu Centre in Fredericton on November 4, 2013. This one day symposium will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Byrne Commission report, a watershed moment in New Brunswick history that reset local governance and paved the way to Equal Opportunities reforms. The symposium will discuss the legacy of the Commission-inspired reforms as well as some contemporary challenges to local governance: capacity, collaboration and change. Experts from North Carolina, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia will join prominent New Brunswick leaders in a series of keynote presentations and expert panel discussions. Simultaneous translation will be offered throughout the day.
