Canada Summer Jobs 2014
Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) is a Government of Canada initiative that provides funding to help employers create summer job opportunities for students. It is designed to focus on local priorities for both students (between the ages of 15 and 30 who are returning to full time studies in the fall) and their communities. Last year the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton was successful in receiving funding for 23 of the 32 positions applied for, providing UNBF with $38,788 in funding. These successful grants helped contribute $107,827 in salaries to students during the summer of 2013 through this program.
This year, the period to apply for Canada Summer Jobs 2014 will be December 2, 2013 to January 31, 2014 which is much earlier than in previous years. These new dates will allow employers to be notified of their application status earlier.
The University of New Brunswick – Fredericton submits one application on behalf of the university through the Student Employment Service. Student Employment Service is now accepting applications from UNB faculty and staff who are interested in receiving funding to hire an eligible student through the 2014 Canada Summer Jobs program. The program will reimburse successful projects ½ of minimum wage ($5.00 per hour). As of April 1, 2012 minimum wage was $10.00 per hour.
