UdeM Connection at Research to Impact

Researchers from l’Université de Moncton participated in the first-of-its-kind event called “Research to Impact: A Policy Weekend” which took place from February 21st to the 23rd 2014 at the Wu Centre in Fredericton.

The event focused on developing projects based on finding solutions for economic development in the province.  Five research teams were formed during the event, one of which was formed by Christine Paulin, PhD candidate at the University of Ottawa and professor in the department of public administration at l’Université de Moncton as well as Éric Mathieu Doucet, fellow at l’Université de Moncton and PhD candidate at l’Université de Poitiers in France. Their research problem was formed around the following questions : What are the cross-sectorial resources of communities in New Brunswick and how could they help to address the socio-economic challenges from a community perspective? What are the mechanisms that are in place to facilitate this engagement?

The weekend resulted in a variety of projects including immigration, education  renewable energy and culture.  The event was open to undergraduate and graduate students and inviduals who have an interest in policy. The New Brunswick Social Policy Research Network is devellopping a second edition of the event to be held at the Université de Moncton in the fall of 2014.
