International Summer Course on the Rights of the Child


You are invited to the second annual international summer course on the rights of the child to be held in Moncton, New Brunswick, July 12-19, 2013.

The New Brunswick Child and Youth Advocate, in collaboration with the Working Group on the Rights of the Child within the Francophonie, the Canadian Council of Child and Youth Advocates and the Université de Moncton, present the second annual International Summer Course on Rights of the Child, July 12 to 19, 2013 at the Université de Moncton, Moncton, New Brunswick. This course is ideal for professionals working in the various fields of child rights and youth development across Canada and around the world. This year’s program will focus particularly on Article 19 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: “The right to protection against all forms of violence, physical and mental abuse, neglect or negligent treatment, maltreatment or exploitation. ”

This bilingual (French and English) summer course consists of a three-day pre-conference from July 12 to 14, which will focus on best practices for data collection and research on the rights and well-being children, followed by a five-day university course, from July 15 to 19, focusing on children’s rights, well-being and healthy development of young people.

Many distinguished speakers and presenters from across Canada and around the world will be on hand to share their expertise. Cultural activities will also be included in the program to enrich the experience for all participants.

University credits may be awarded for graduate students in education and social work. For more information, please visit the course website.

To encourage and facilitate the participation of participants from around the world, the Office Continuing Education at the Université de Moncton offers the possibility of obtaining financial assistance through a bursary application process. Please note that a limited number of candidates will be offered a bursary. Canadian applicants will have until Friday, May 3, 2013 to apply for a bursary. Please take into account the eligibility criteria, as well as the documents required for the application on the website.
