UNB ORS Workshop – Writing Strong Grant Proposals for SSHRC
UNB’s Office of Research Services (ORS) recommends that researchers start working on their grant applications at least five months in advance of the deadline. To help with this process, ORS is holding information sessions to offer grant writing tips and to highlight upcoming SSHRC competitions, specifically the Insight Grants (due October 2015) and the Insight Development Grants (due January 2016).
These sessions will include tips on completing the sections of the applications, resources for budgeting and planning, and samples of successful applications from previous years. Dr. Gary Waite, Professor in the Department of History at UNB Fredericton, will speak at both sessions about his extensive experience with SSHRC. Dr. Waite, a SSHRC mentor in the Faculty of Arts, has just received his fourth SSHRC Insight Grant, and, for the previous four years, he served on the Insight Grant History Committee, the last two as Chair.
These sessions will also go over recent changes to the SSHRC application process, including the expected move to the new Canadian Common CV and Research Portal systems for both the Insight Grants and the Insight Development Grants.
