LIEUTENANT-GOVERNOR TO OPEN GOVMAKER CONFERENCE
FREDERICTON, NB –Lieutenant-Governor Jocelyne Roy-Vienneau is set to offer opening remarks at the GovMaker Conference on November 23rd and 24th. Lt-Gov Roy-Vienneau will open the conference on Monday November 23rd.
“Whether it is in developing policy or simply better understanding public opinion, governments at every level need to engage with citizens,” says Roy-Vienneau. “Collaboration can be simple or formal – but it is always necessary.”
This year’s line up of accomplished speakers include, Nora Young, host and creator of CBC’s Spark, Henry Mintzberg, Cleghorn Professor of Management Studies at the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University and Zaid Hassan, author of The Social Labs Revolution. The conference also offers a variety of panel discussions including: Data as a Currency, Millennial Citizenship and Data and Self-Determination.
Dr. David Burns, Vice President of Research at the University of New Brunswick says: “Smart governments make use of the expertise, skills and experience of those inside and outside of government. The post-secondary sector has a vital role to play in 21st century governance. The GovMaker conference aims to enable smart government by connecting governments with willing collaborators and exploring innovative models of governance.”
About the GovMaker Conference
The GovMaker Conference is an annual event organized by The New Brunswick Social Policy Research Network (NBSPRN). This year, it will take place on November 23rd and 24th 2015 at the Delta Hotel in Fredericton New Brunswick and will explore innovative models of 21st century citizenship and governance in New Brunswick.
